Welcome to Howie's Olympic blog!
Sotic's very own technical mastermind Howie Lush is off to Qingdao, China!

We've sent him along with the International Sailing Federation to assist in their online coverage of the 2008 Olympic Games, through their new microsite

As a way of ensuring he is actually working and not eating his way through unlimited vegetable spring rolls and seaweed we've roped him into writing a daily blog entry, giving us a unique behind the scenes look at the Olympic games!

Keep checking back here for his regular updates throughout his trip to China...we hope you enjoy reading it as much as we will!

I've been travelling for 18 hours now, and have finally made it to Hong Kong International Airport.
I'm off to China!
5 Aug, 14:58
This time tomorrow (providing there aren't the usual delays at Heathrow) I'll be on the 12 hour flight to Hong Kong, before catching a connecting flight to Qingdao, a city on the east coast of China and co-host to Beijing for the 2008 Olympic Games. The high levels of algae in Fushan Bay which have recently featured on the news around the world have apparently now been cleared, and the stage is set for the Sailing Olympics which start on Saturday.
